Welcome to Make A Space Online!
If you are looking for a low-cost website, you may have come to the right place. My fees range from $0 to $500, not counting the cost for domain name and hosting fees. More about that later. For now, take a look at the websites I've completed so far to see if you're mildly impressed or completely uninterested.
This is my first store project. Jessica designs and sews bareback pads for horse people. She has sold quite a few through word of mouth and Facebook. Now she has a website for her complete collection where people can conveniently order and pay all in one place. This one is special because it's for my sister. Check out her products and share her website on Facebook.
The first (and only) time I hired someone to build a website for my gym.... There were a few things I didn't like about it but he was too busy to work with me. Since I knew I could learn to do it myself I didn't want to push it. I rebuilt it on Squarespace, and then again on Wix a year later.
My first Weebly site.... I had been offering to revamp this website until finally they took me up on my offer. I basically rebuilt the whole thing. Weebly is fairly easy to use, and not too hard to learn. They have excellent chat support, too.
This was actually my first Wix site. I found out it's a lot more customizable than Weebly, but there is more to learn, too. I like it a lot. After the three previous projects I realized I really like doing this so I started offering to build websites at no cost to small churches.
This is my first Squarespace website. I built it for my church and then handed it over to their graphic designer. She created all the graphics and has replaced some of the stock photos with in house photos.
Pricing and Fees
My websites are simple because my skills are pretty basic. I am not qualified to do branding, logo design, or graphic design, hence my lower than average price. I can make you a nice website and help get your SEO keywords all put in.
My fee is as follows:
small churches: free
small businesses: $300
small stores: $500
I will consider bartering!
These prices do not include the cost of the website hosting and domain name. Those are extra. For example, I built a store website on Wix for Trailmaster Bareback Pads. It cost $30 for the domain name and $200 for a year of hosting. Since I charge $500 for my services to build the site, her total cost was $730. Website maintenance is optional but she will hire me to update it whenever needed and pay me a monthly fee. Every year she will pay another $230 to Wix for hosting (until they raise their prices).
Why not just have a Facebook page?
Storage of Media: Your website gives you an allotment of data (depending on your plan) so you can upload files, audio, video, and photos and actually store them there.
Basic Expectation: Today, if you don't have a website, people may assume you are not serious about your business. Let's make a good first impression by creating a website that means business.
Ownership: You should have an active Facebook page. This is indisputable. But you don't have complete control over what happens there. You do have control over your website because it belongs to you.
Appearance: Facebook pages look like Facebook. Your website will have its own look, hopefully reflecting the nature of your business.
You can organize it so your content is easy to find. Some people simply don't use Facebook and aren't familiar with it. It can be a little tricky to find specific information on a Facebook page.
